Job Description

We’re looking for a dynamic and dedicated individual to take on the role of Head Coach for the Golden Dolphins Swim Club for the 2025 summer season. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a BCSSA club, mentor young athletes, and develop competitive swimmers across a wide range of abilities—from beginners to competitive athletes. As the Head Coach, you will be the cornerstone of our club’s success, shaping athletes' experiences, fostering growth, and ensuring that swimming remains a fun and inspiring challenge for all participants.

The Golden Dolphins Swim Club is a vibrant BCSSA member club based in Golden, BC, nestled among six National Parks and renowned for its world-class outdoor activities, including mountain biking, hiking, and more. Golden offers unparalleled scenery and a strong outdoor community, providing a perfect balance for coaches who appreciate nature and an active lifestyle. As part of the Okanagan Region of the BCSSA, our club is passionate about summer swimming and fosters a balanced environment where swimmers challenge themselves and develop both as athletes and individuals. We’ve produced regional and provincial medalists, and some of our swimmers hold current BCSSA records, demonstrating the success of our competitive yet inclusive approach.

Important Note: This position requires working in an outdoor setting as our training facility is a 6-lane outdoor pool. The ability to work in various weather conditions is a key part of this role. Please consider the physical demands of an outdoor environment before applying.

This position requires 100% commitment to practices, swim meets and pre/post-season admin from April 28th 2025 to August 23rd 2025.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead & Develop the Swim Program: Design and implement an engaging, skill-building swim program tailored to swimmers ranging from ages 5-18, with a focus on both technical development and competitive training.
- Mentorship & Leadership: Act as the primary role model and mentor for all Division 1-8 swimmers, fostering a supportive and positive environment. You will also mentor and oversee the Assistant Coach, helping guide the club’s senior and junior coaches.
- Athlete Monitoring: Track and assess athlete attendance, performance, and progression, and work closely with swimmers to set and monitor personal goals.
- Communication: Maintain open lines of communication with athletes, parents, and club management. You will also be responsible for submitting articles to local media and updating social platforms as needed.
- Meet & Event Organization: Prepare athletes for swim meets, manage meet entries using Hy-Tek/Active Network systems, and ensure athletes are fully supported during competitions.
- Foster Club Culture: Create an environment where fun, technical improvement, and competitive spirit coexist, ensuring all athletes have a positive and rewarding experience. 

 

Qualifications:
- Certifications: Minimum Swimming 101 NCCP or equivalent, Preferred Swimming 201 completion.
Safe Sport annual completion.
- Coaching Experience: Proven experience in a competitive swim coaching environment, with a track
record of developing swimmers at various skill levels. Experience as a competitive swimmer is an asset.
- Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and guide both athletes and the coaching team.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; the ability to work with a range of stakeholders, from athletes and parents to media and club management.
- Technology Competency: Comfortable with Hy-Tek/Active Network swim manager and meet entry systems.

Other Requirements:
- Criminal background check (required prior to employment)
- Valid driver’s license and personal transportation

 

Compensation and Benefits:
- This is a full-time seasonal contract position from April 28th to August 23rd, 2025.
- Salary range is $19,000 - $24,000 based on experience and qualifications.
- Travel expenses are reimbursed according to club policy.

Compensation

$28.00-$35.00/per hour
