Job Description

This a full summer position with the option to turn into a permanent position  

Must have 

Class 3 w/air endorsement drivers’ license and an incident free driving record

Role Summary:

The FL/RO Driver is responsible for an array of duties and will play a crucial role in maintaining cleanliness and sanitation within the community.  Safe and efficient operation of specialized FL/RO garbage trucks for collecting and transporting waste and recyclables is a primary responsibility.  Completing predetermined routes with various stops and locations, while documenting all pertinent information to the routing software.  Duties include performing pre-trip vehicle inspections along with routine truck maintenance and cleaning, reporting repair requirements and identifying malfunctions in a timely manner.  The ideal candidate is reliable, has a strong work ethic, and is committed to providing excellent service to the community

Primary Responsibilities:

 

  • Operate garbage truck to collect waste and recyclables along designated routes.
  • Ensure the safe and efficient loading and unloading of waste and recyclables.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws, regulations, and safety procedures.
  • Inspect vehicle daily for mechanical and safety issues, and report any defects or maintenance needs.
  • Maintain accurate records of waste collected, routes taken, and any issues encountered.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers, supervisors, and the public.
  • Assist in the sorting and disposal of waste at designated facilities.
  • Provide excellent customer service, addressing any concerns or complaints professionally.
  • Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of the truck to ensure it remains in good working condition.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures, including those related to health and safety.
  • Attend training sessions and meetings as required.

Requirements

  • Experience
    • Previous experience in a similar field or a relevant role.
    • Class 3 w/air endorsement drivers’ license and an incident free driving record
    • Detail-oriented with a proactive and resourceful mindset.
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently. Move to the next task without instruction.
    • Understanding of Routing Software and computer literacy is an asset.
    • High school diploma or Equivalent as a minimum.
  • Education
    • High school diploma or Equivalent as a minimum.
    • Courses or programs specifically tied transportation and/or waste industry
